2 gorgeous male wood ducks on my pond this morning, and one beautiful female. They are very dramatic and charismatic.

Saw a fox sparrow kicking up snow and leaves under my feeders. Big rufous tail, much bigger and redder than the song sparrow feeding nearby. Gale says it’s early for fox sparrow.

Saw two phoebes today, but haven’t heard them yet. Definitely phoebes, tail twitching, upright perching, round heads. I hope they can find something to eat in the snowy weather.
